Making Summer Memories: Downtown Improvement District's Rick Zolman Talks Lunch on the Square and Other Seasonal Events
Before this interview, I didn't realize just how many of our favorite events throughout the year are organized by The Downtown Improvement District.
For this episode, Alicia and I went to the DID's Calhoun Street office to talk with Events and Programming Manager Rick Zolman.
We began with Lunch on the Square, which Alicia and the rest of APQ will be kicking off Thursday, June 7th at 11:30 in Freimann Square. Then we moved on to other great seasonal events, including Night of Lights, Fright Night, and Buskerfest.
The idea, Rick emphasizes, isn't just to get people to come out and learn about local musicians, artists, restaurants, and other businesses. It's also to help residents build the types of memories that tie them to their hometown for the rest of their lives. And it's also about attracting people from surrounding areas to the city to get a taste of what Fort Wayne has to offer.
Just talking to Rick got us both excited about all the great events coming up this summer--and all the great events taking us into the fall and the winter.
Give it a listen and let us know what events you're excited about this year.
